About Renée Phillips

FOUNDER / DIRECTOR, MANHATTAN ARTS INTERNATIONAL
She founded Manhattan Arts International which is now a major global network and website of Artrepreneurs at www.ManhattanArts.com. It contains a Juried Online Gallery, Ezine, Resource Directory, and a comprehensive resource guide of several hundred NYC art galleries.

AUTHOR / WRITER

She is the author of several books including Presentation Power Tools for Fine Artists, Success NOW! For Artists and The Complete Guide to New York Art Galleries. She writes a monthly ejournal titled Soar! for Manhattan Arts International. She is a member of the International Association of Art Critics and her articles have appeared in many publications nationwide in print and online including Art Calendar magazine. Renée founded and operated Manhattan Arts International magazine from 1983 to 2000. This magazine forged the careers of numerous emerging artists of all disciplines. She also interviewed leaders in the world of art, politics and entertainment. She is currently Editor-in-Chief of Manhattan Arts Ezine at www.manhattanarts.com/readingroom/index.htm.

Manhattan Arts DebateARTISTS' ADVOCATE / EVENTS ORGANIZER
Renée co-hosts Art & Healing events with world renowned artist Nadiya Jinnah in Nadiya's 2,000 square foot studio/gallery in midtown Manhattan. She has organized more than 50 multi-media events including the "Manhattan Arts Debate", the only political debate in NYC's history to concentrate solely on the arts. It was televised on ABC news and transmitted on WQXR radio owned by The New York Times and attracted more than 750 attendees. She was on the Board of Directors of New York Artist Equity Association. For her contributions to the Arts she has been awarded citations from two NYC mayors.

EXHIBITION CURATOR
She has organized dozens of group exhibitions in galleries and alternative exhibition spaces, from corporate spaces to Studio 54, and arranged one-person shows for artists in galleries throughout New York City. Realizing the lack of support and availability of New York exhibition venues she established a juried Online Gallery at www.ManhattanArts.com in 2000.

During her career she has had the pleasure of interviewing and working with many leaders from art, entertainment and politics including Leo Castelli, Jay Leno, Ivanna Trump, Peter Jennings, Mayors Koch and Dinkins, Wolf Kahn, Frank Zappa, Tony Bennett, Mark Kostabi, and many others. She appeared on the Jerry Lewis Telethon as a celebrity guest. She was featured in New York Newsday as a "Community Leader." Articles about her have appeared in The New York Times, Crain's New York Business, and Our Town, among others. She has been interviewed on CBS News, WPIX TV, and National Broadcast Radio, to name a few.
